Some frequently Asked Questions
Where is GENNI oil sourced? Unlike most coconut oils found in the UK, Genni oil is sourced in the Caribbean. In the Caribbean coconuts are not intensively farmed on an industrial scale.. We source and press our coconuts in the Windward islands, Jamaica and Guyana. We are a small niche company striving to make a living for the small cottage farmers of the Caribbean and bring trade to the Caribbean. At the moment it is substantially more expensive to import coconut oil from the Caribbean than places like Philippines and Thailand! We would like a level playing field! How are GENNI oils made? We cannot divulge all our processes but it begins in the Caribbean where the coconuts are selected and the oil produced by hand from the tree to the bottle. We can confirm that the ingredients are natural and mankind earth friendly. We do not use any flavouring, colouring, petroleum or anything that does not grow naturally from soil. For example our Lavender comes from a family run organic farm where Lavender is grown without chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides. We select the finest ingredients, blend and mature the oils to give you the finest bespoke product. Why is GENNI oil slightly more expensive than others in the market? You pay a premium as a combination of points one and two above. Also this is a unique quality product that is coming from a part of the world that is not over exploited or factory farmed for coconut oil. These oils are created, prepared and finished by hand, therefore giving you a more superior product. As a result you get a quality bespoke premium oil, blended with the finest ingredients then matured over a period of time. From nut to jar to bring you the tropical taste of the Caribbean. Is GENNI a Fair Trade product? Yes we pay a fair price to our suppliers. Locals that collect the wild organically grown coconuts and bring them to a location where a fair price is given to them. It works like a cooperative. This type of collection and production also ensures the environment is not harmed and bi products recycled to make arts and craft. The rest goes back into the soil. Can I use it in my hair, face and body? Yes, all of our beauty range can be applied. The original (Just CoCo) is excellent for your skin as a moisturiser or in your hair. Try our popular infused varieties too if you like a little fragrance. It is a natural anti aging moisturiser, excellent hair conditioner and an effective anti dandruff remedy. Used as hair oil it also encourages healthy hair growth, regenerates thinning hair and promotes a healthy scalp. It has also been known to be helpful for skin conditions such as eczema and is a wonderful natural emollient for dry skin. It deeply nourishes the skin, is easily absorbed and can also be used as massage oil for the body. How should I store my GENNI product? If you are using the organic beauty range we recommended in a cool part of the room out of sunlight keeping the lid tight. When it comes to storing coconut oil, remember that light, oxygen and heat cause quicker deterioration of that oil. Therefore, you should always keep it tightly closed with its original cap, in a cupboard and in a place where temperature is pretty steady all the time. When it is extremely warm the oil melts should this happen? Yes, coconut oil can be stored as liquid or solid, it’s up to you. It has a melting point of about 75 F (24 C), so if the temperature in the room where you keep it is higher than that, it’ll be liquid. If the temperature is below the melting point, the oil will be solid. Should the Genni product smell like the infusion? No, some of our products may carry a more pungent aroma from the infusion than others. Our coconut oils are not created to smell like the infusions but to harness the essentials and flavours of the infusions. Can I use my product internally? Yes, all our products contain natural ingredients. However for use internally we would recommend selecting from the culinary range. Used internally organic virgin coconut oil has been shown to help with cholesterol levels, weight loss, increase immunity, improve digestion and metabolism. Due to the fact that coconut oil has this unique group of saturated fats which provide incredible health benefits, coconut oil is considered by nutritionists to be among the healthiest of all dietary oils. What sort of projects and charity works are GENNI oil into? We are working with several agents within community projects. In one island is to bring books, knap sacks, pens and pencils for those under privileged school children. On another island to preserve a local area for wildlife.. We are also in support of other UK based charities such as Trinity Hospice, RSPB and Cancer Research. |
